hair for hope '08
I'm a decent guy. Really. Well ok maybe not all the time, but I try to be... I try my best, and most of the time, when I remember, I actually am a pretty decent guy. I think.
Anyway, when I saw the poster for this year's Hair for Hope, I thought to myself "Well, why not?" After all, I'd been very tempted to get involved in Hair for Hope the last few years - I'd just either chickened out at the last moment or wasn't around in Singapore to do it. What was different this year? I honestly don't know, but I just felt like doing it. Thing is I didn't want to do it for nothing; I wanted to be sure that I'd at least raise some funds for the Children's Cancer Foundation!
I did what any rational person in my situation would do - I put the word out that I was willing to get my head shaved, but I wanted a certain amount to be pledged before I took the plunge. Within 18 hours I'd gotten very encouraging replies which made hitting that target I set seem only a case of when and not if, so I went ahead and registered.
So yes, I will now be getting my head shaved completely bald. The reason why participants shave their heads completely bald is to show solidarity with the kids who lose their hair when they undergo chemotherapy, in case you were wondering.
Take this as my appeal to you, my 3 loyal readers, to make a pledge to the Children's Cancer Foundation. This is the link:

Feel free to leave a message of support by clicking on the "Post a message" button, or make an online pledge by clicking on the (duh) "Online Pledge" button. If you choose to make an online pledge, you can make the donation by credit/debit card payment.
Know what's the best part? All donations are tax-deductible! That means that if you pledge $50, you'll pay $50 LESS in income tax for this financial year! How great is that? Helping charity and still getting tax relief! So come on, don't give your money to the bloodsuckers at the IRAS. Give it to poor children with cancer instead!
If you're on Facebook, join the group I created for this...

I've also created an event listing on Facebook for the public shaving event that will be held on Sunday 6 July.
If you want to see me get shaved, come to Velocity@Novena Square that day! I don't know the exact timing for my shave yet, but the event will be from 12noon to 7pm. I'll update the event listing and also keep you updated here once I know my timeslot.
In the meantime, please start making your pledges!!! If you donate but are unable to make it on the 6th of July, I promise to send you a video.
Remember, donate!
